This paper studies assortative matching between heterogeneous workers and firms in a directed search model with production complementarity and risk averse workers. It shows that positive assortative matching (PAM) occurs if and only if the elasticity of complementarity of the production function times that of the matching function exceeds the coefficient of the relative risk aversion of the logarithm of the utility function.

Silvia Margot Lindtner is a writer and ethnographer. She will present findings from her book-in-progress Feeling Like a State: China, America, and Control in the Age of AI to theorize a global regime of control that is emerging alongside contemporary AI. This talk will draw from long-term ethnographic research, with a particular focus on the use of AI in population management during China's zero Covid and efforts to revitalize the countryside.
